VBH IN GREAT BRITAIN. A BRIEF HISTORY.
History

Read about the evolution of hardware supply in the UK

VBH in Great Britain. A Brief History.

VBH (GB) Ltd is part of the VBH group, which is the market leader in the window and door hardware sector. German hardware supplier, and part of the VBH group, Heinz Wagner GmbH began serving UK customers direct from its site in Cologne, Germany, in 1975. The client base grew rapidly, so 1982 saw the formation of the British subsidiary Wagner (GB) Ltd, with an office and warehouse at Rochester, Kent and a staff of six.

Rapid sales growth saw a move to larger facilities in Chatham during 1985, followed by a move to a new purpose-built headquarters at nearby Gillingham in 1994. The 26,000 square foot Gillingham warehouse holds the main central stock inventory complimented by stocks at other locations. A Scottish branch was opened in Dundee in 1990 and later relocated to East Kilbride near Glasgow. This was swiftly followed by the opening of a Birmingham branch in 1991. The strategic acquisition of L G Fasteners (now VBH (GB) Ltd in Swansea) in Swansea during 1996 provided a Welsh presence.

The company continued to trade as Wagner (GB) Ltd until March 2009, but a change of name to VBH (GB) Ltd at that time fully reflected our standing as part of the world leader in hardware supply. The company is the UK market leader in the supply of branded products and employs roughly 80 people across its four UK locations.
